Drop Everything and Read!

At Abingdon, reading for pleasure is really important. We have invested in our libraries and class reading areas so the children have the books they enjoy and we also have a reading challenge every year to encourage the children further (please see our Curriculum Reading page for more information) . A few times a week in school, the children and the teachers drop everything and read (DEAR) for fun! Once a term we also open up school to our families to come and join in the fun. On DEAR days families are invited into class to read with their children from 8.45 - 9.10am.
